Help It Make Sense

About me

Dr Cara Haines

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) – registration number: PYL36050.

I have worked in NHS mental health services for over 10 years, with both adults and children. I'm currently working in private practice alongside my NHS role in an adult community mental health service.

I am a compassionate and down to earth psychologist. I am passionate about providing a safe, non-judgemental and authentic space to support people experiencing emotional difficulties. For me, it is a huge privilege to meet people from all walks of life and hear their stories — to come alongside them, support them to make sense of things, and find a way forward together. Taking the time to really understand a person's difficulties, the factors that have contributed to their difficulties developing and what is keeping the difficulties going, as well as the person's existing strengths, can be incredibly meaningful. It is also the first, important step in supporting a person to make changes towards a more fulfilling life.

I draw flexibly on a range of evidence-based approaches to tailor therapy to the individual, and I can support people with a range of difficulties. See the services page for more details.
